Class Assignment: Debunk a claim
There are a number of library databases that you can search to find research and clinical studies. We recommend starting with SCOPUS and typing in the keywords for the claim you wish to find. If that information has been published in the biomedical literature, it should be available there.
For example, let's say you selected the topic of Ophthoglow's iris implants: http://ophthoglow.com/
If you search SCOPUS for iris implants, you will find the following article:
Recommendations for searching SCOPUS:
1. You can search for the product name, but that will mean that someone has had to do research on that product. If you can't find the product name (for this example: Opthoglow), search with a description of the product (iris implants).
2. Try including the phrase "adverse events" in your search. For example: iris implants AND adverse events
3. If you cannot find your topic in SCOPUS doesn't work, you may wish also wish to try searching PubMed or Google Scholar.
